Homecomings
Do you long to step aside from all that appears urgent and clamoring for your attention . . . and allow an awareness of the natural world to renew you from the inside out?
Each of us belongs to places and landscapes that nurture our bodies, minds, and spirits. We also dwell in a home place in our hearts, a private inner landscape. As cycles of day, moon, and seasons pass, our inner and outer landscapes mirror and respond. When we are in tune with our own sense of time and place, we truly come home.
Homecomings workshops offer practical guidance for you to come home to your place on Earth and your place in time – connected to your life purpose; your family, friends, and community; and the wonders of the natural world that we all share.

I chose the title Homecomings to reflect my passion for helping individuals, groups, and communities live and learn with renewed connection to the natural world in their daily lives, with attention to mind, body, and spirit. I grew up with hands in the dirt, bugs in a jar, and tadpoles in a tub. After many years as a biologist and ecologist, I longed to reconnect with my roots and enrich my ways of knowing about myself and my home place. The Homecomings workshops allow me to share my desire that we all experience deep connections with self and the places and landscapes we inhabit. I bring many years of experience as a skilled facilitator and spiritual seeker and am known as a creative designer of workshops and participatory events. For more information about me.
- You may already know a deep connection to self and nature and seek a deeper experience.
- You may feel disconnected from yourself or others and find yourself attracted to the natural world as a source of healing and wellbeing.
- You may be an elder or mentor wishing to help young people discover their affinity for nature and sense of belonging.
Whether you tend toward the spiritual and are called to engage directly with the natural world or tend toward the scientific and crave explorations of spiritual connections with nature, Homecomings will expand your capacity to integrate scientific and spiritual ways of knowing.
Whatever aspects of joy, wellness, or learning you seek, all you need for getting there is found in your own backyard or neighborhood – right where you live. As you renew your connection to the plants, animals, and other elements of nature on a daily basis, you will renew the home place in your heart and reinvigorate your life.
Each Homecomings workshop provides practices for you to take home and enjoy on your own or share with your family, classroom or community. Although each workshop has a particular focus, all of them include a blend of instruction, demonstration, and individual and group activities that invite you to:
- Reconnect your breath, and all your senses, with the rhythm of life
- Experience the power of cycles and seasons, using the Wheels of Time and Place to explore your relationship to time and place and discover your growing edges
- Learn daily practices of nature awareness that fit into a busy life and renew your connection to self and home place
"What I most appreciate about Anne and her workshops is how she facilitates a personal homecoming for each of us, no matter how diverse our experiences. She invites us "back to" our selves and to our natural places in the world. Her Homecoming experiences are like walking into a room and smelling a favorite childhood scent -- your entire being realizes its natural belonging." – Julie Tallard Johnson, author of Wheel of Initiation, Practices for Releasing Your Inner Light
"Anne, thank you for a truly inspirational workshop. The Wheel revealed cycles in my life of which I was unaware, and offered insights that I can put into practice. My 'writing life' story got a few laughs – it tickled me as well – but the way the phases aligned in my adult years, and called to me in my elder years was remarkable. It was a contemplative trip home. Thank you for a wonderful workshop and especially for your remarkable skills in bringing nature into our lives." - Eric Frydenlund
